Looks Like Another Year Without a Ferret Bill
It wasn’t for lack of trying. We reached out to every legislator. Officially Senator Brian Jones and Assemblywoman Marie Waldron agreed to consider ferret legalization bill. Assemblyman Kelly Seyarto agreed to meet with us but dropped us like a hot potato when the time came.
Los Angeles city councilman and former state assemblyman Paul Koretz, the last ferret bill author had this to say:
I think the danger in doing animal bills is the fear of being made to look silly. This issue will always look somewhat frivolous to many, and the author has to be willing to endure that. During this year of continuing crisis, I think you will have a hard time finding an author, or a lot of interest. Personally, I have always felt it was worth it to help animals, but I still get teased unmercifully to this day.
